In this blog we tell you everything you need to know about Diabetes Awareness Month. During this month we focus on the millions of us living with Diabetes. Because there is also still no cure and the number of diabetics is at an all-time high it is more important than ever to raise awareness.
Every 14th of November, people with diabetes, health care experts, and patient organization across the world gather and take part on the World Diabetes Day to raise awareness of Diabetes and its impact to billions of people. With this year’s theme, ‘Women and Diabetes – Our Right to a Healthy Future’, the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and its member organizations have prepared and arranged events at international, national and local levels to further increase the awareness about Diabetes with women as this year’s focal point.
According to International Diabetes Federation (IDF), over 199 million women are suffering from diabetes and the figures are projected to escalate to 313 million by 2040. In fact, 2 out of 5 women diagnosed with diabetes are of reproductive age, which accounts to 60 million women around the world and this is no joke.
Thus, IDF is on a mission to echo the awareness and promote a sustainable and equitable access for all women with diabetes and/or at risk of having diabetes to essential yet affordable diabetes medicines and technologies. The organization also aims to make the public be fully informed about self-management education and information in order to achieve optimal diabetes outcomes and strengthen their capacity to prevent Type 2 Diabetes from occurring.
In your own way, you can help World Diabetes Day stakeholders and the community to promote Diabetes Awareness by wearing Diabetes Awareness Jewelry as your way of support, whether you are a diabetic or someone in your family and friends has it. This provides the first responders the critical health information that would greatly help people with diabetes in emergency situations.
In 2007 The universal symbol for Diabetes Awareness became a blue circle as you can see above. However, such as with other Awareness causes a ribbon is often being used. That is why most of our Diabetes Awareness Jewelry have the blue ribbon and the words 'diabetic' on it so everybody will know what it is for.
First of all, there are two types of diabetes jewelry: for raising awareness and for medical identification. All of our Merchandise is made to look good and serve the purpose of Awareness at the same time.
If you want to raise awareness for Diabetes you can wear T-shirts, Rings, Bracelets and Necklaces. We offer unique Diabetes Awareness Bracelets, T-shirts, Necklaces and Rings such as our Best selling Gold Diamond Diabetic Ring.
